Computational Design through Responsive Architecture

Exploring parametric architecture and digital prototyping

INT93-LS Summer 2020
Department of Art at UCSB
The Division of Humanities and Fine Arts
Disciplines: Responsive Architecture, Computational Design, and Digital Architecture.

This course begins with a historical and practical introduction to responsive architecture–an emerging field in architecture that integrates computing power and intelligent systems into built space. Students will apply parametric workflows to 3D computational design using Rhino/Grasshopper, a visual programming language. Students will learn digital art and architecture, parametric modeling, digital prototyping, and generative design.
