Yin Yu(于音)is a multi-disciplinary artist, engineer, and designer. She has a Bachelor of Science in Electronic Engineering (China), a Master of Science in Information Technology (US), and a Master of Science in Interior Architecture (US). Currently, she is pursuing her Ph.D. in Media Arts and Technologies at the University of California, Santa Barbara.

She is interested in expanding the potential of interactive multimedia environments and the relationships between architecture and music in contemporary art and design practice. Her goal is to investigate the interactions between human beings and the built space by redesigning the environment through new media technologies. Applications include architecture, wearable design, and social interaction.

She has won several awards, including Oregon BEST Red List Design Challenge, Academic Excellence Design and Paper, and Lyman and Judith Johnson Interior Architecture Award. She is the Olivia Long Converse Fellow, and the recipient of the Nascence and UO Hong Kong Alumni Scholarship.


She also specialized in interdisciplinary pedagogy at the college level. She has taught at the Art Department, the History of Art and Architecture Department, and Summer Research Academies at UCSB, as well as School for Scientific Thought at California NanoSystems Institute.

She has worked with leading firms such as AECOM (Fortune 500 Global No.1 Design Firm), BENOY (European Top 50 UK Design Firm), Optoplex (Top 13 in Fast 50 Program for Silicon Valley Telecommunication), and Group 70 International (Hawaii Top 3 Architecture Design Firm). Clients include Apple, Huawei, Hilton, Porsche, and others. She has also worked with Prof. James Tice on a Getty-funded research project at Rome Urban Research Lab.
